The forested mountains, valleys and meadows of the Siskiyou Wilderness in California offer vistas of incredible beauty, diverse landscapes and remote solitude. Designated in 1984, the Siskiyou Wilderness was named for the rugged mountain headwaters of the Smith, Klamath and Illinois rivers in northwestern California. Forested ridges with high craggy peaks, fragile mountain meadows, small glacial lakes, and a mosaic of dense old-growth confier forest, mixed hardwood and shrub vegetation characterize the Siskiyou Wilderness landscapes. |
