More than 100 lakes dot this heavily used 63,500 acre wilderness. The area straddles the Sierra crest near Lake Tahoe. The wilderness is jointly managed by the Eldorado National Forest and the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. Elevations are from 6,500 to over 10,000 feet. The Pacific Crest Trail runs the length of this wilderness.
