Mines Of The Eastern Sierra tells the story of those mines located on the eastern slope of the great Sierra Nevada and in the arid stretches of the Inyo Mountains. After the first frenetic rush of '49 played out, miners drifted back of the crest to look at the county that they had blindly scrambled over. So in 1857, the mining activity of the eastern Sierra started, to continue until the present day.

Included are stories of the mystery mines, such as the Lost Gunsight, over toward Death Valley, and of the Lost Cement Mine of the Mammoth Lake region. Directions are clearly given, to allow the present-day prospector of the history lode to locate these century-old mines. Included are photos, sketches and maps, both of this day and those made my engineers and miners a hundred years ago.

Contents include: Introduction, Dogtown & Monoville, Homer District, Tioga, Prescott, Benton (blind Springs, White Peak, Indian & Clover Patch Districts), Cos, Russ & Inyo Districts, Beveridge, Kearsarge, Cerro Gordo, References and Index.
