Seven Rivers - This site was located near the Pecos River. It was originally know as Dogtown for the many prairie dogs in the area. This little town soon became a wild community where a saloon boasted a door with hinges that could be easily removed to double as a stretcher for the injured whose draw was too slow. Cimarron - Founded in 1841 this town grew to be known as a hangout for outlaws. Many colorful characters frequented the town including Kit Carson, Buffalo Bill, Davey Crocket and Clay Allison to name a few. A newspaper once reported a quiet spell, "nobody killed for the past three days." |
