This report will embrace a portion of the counties lying in the Coast Mountain, north of San Francisco. The counties included extend from Marin to near the northern line of Siskiyou.

Commissioned by the State of California in 1856, this is a report on the unexplored portions of the State relating to their geological peculiarities and economical adaptations.
