The landscape of the southern Coast Ranges of central California has been home to Native Americans for several thousands of years. They have become synonymous with images of lush verdant rolling hills that plunge down steep cliffs to rocky beaches below. Geologically, these ranges are linked to the Mesozoic Franciscan Formation. The road log is intended to provide a description of the geologic conditions and history of the field trip stops, as well as specific points of interest along the way. Curious people are encouraged to return to the area for further exploration. |
